What beauty inspirations have you found the most influential?

I have always been inspired by Old Hollywood Starlets such as Lauren Bacall, Veronica Lake, Audrey Hepburn, and Brigitte Bardot. As well as Fashion Designers Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. I have also had the pleasure of being a mentor to many young hairdressers and seeing them all growing and flourishing in this beautiful industry is honestly the biggest source of inspiration.

Tell us about your beauty education and how it made you so fabulous.

I started my craft in Alberta, inspired by my older Sister who has been hairdressing since I was very young I turned to Hair as an opportunity to live my creativity every day. This amazing skill has taken me from Vancouver where I trained and worked at Toni & Guy, as well as Rain salon where I was immersed in the culture and craft of Bumble and Bumble. I trained in Los Angeles and New York City, winning awards and absolutely pushing my creative limits. I then lived/worked in downtown Toronto for 3 years before settling in Kelowna. Where I have been a stylist, educator, and Hair Department Head on many feature films, working with amazingly talented actors from all over the world as well as an amazing film crew that feels more like a family than anything.

What’s your specialty?

I have had extensive training in haircutting and styling resulting in proficiency using all tools from shears to razors and clippers. I have also been in love with painting hair and Balayage highlights for more than 10 years of my career and have fine tuned my own style of creating dimensional hair colour.

Who is your hero & why?

My hero is honestly my husband Matthew, in our 13 year relationship he has maintained a constant drive to create new opportunity and really succeed in so many areas. He has conquered much in life and as a partner has been the champion by my side that pushes me way beyond my expectations of myself.

Other then beautifying, what are your passions in life?

When I’m not behind the chair I am often working as Head of the hair  Department on film productions. And if I’m not doing hair I am often out in nature with my partner and our dog Atticus. I am a musician, and have played the guitar and ukulele for most of my life. I also create and sell one of a kind Jewelry and home decor under my business Nomadic Knots vending at markets and festivals during the summer.

You are stranded on an island, what are three things you cannot live with out?

My husband, My dog, and my Ukulele. together we can survive and I can create beautiful music in the process.

Would you rather ride a unicorn or swim like a mermaid?

I would rather Ride a unicorn, hopefully a winged one like Pegasus because that seems pretty rad.
